Here is what I don't get, its cheaper to text a safcom line from a zain line than it is to do so from a Safcom line, further, it costs the same (for prepaid users) to call safcom, why are people still on Safaricom? I just don't get it... On Sat, Apr 18, 2009 at 4:00 PM, Ken Simiyu <kensimiyu@gmail.com> wrote:
Remember as well, they dont want to encourage u to keep using the feature on a regular basis. That is why they make it expensive to you by taking the 10%, restricting the deal to once a week and barring cross-network use. Much as it sounds like a steal, when u r in an emergency situation, it will be a godsend. And as someone mentioned on the thread, it is not forced on u. So, when taking the cruise, u have to take with it the threat of high sea piracy and icebergs.

Guys i dont see a problem with what Safaricom is doing since ther are not a charity, you are not being forced to take the loan, what i can see are Consumer perspectives.I am sure lot of research was done to arrive at the kind of economic model they are using, in any case i find the solution to be innovative and usefull based on my nature of work. Allow me to borrow from Gakuru avoid credit if you can coz it pinches at payback time

I agree with Thuo, Safaricom is not in the business of loaning money, but they can reduce their 'risk' to nil (or close to nil) if they keep the loaned calls strictly within their network. Why? well, because it is like taking money from one account at safaricom to another account at safaricom. In case 1 million people default, safaricom will simply have a hole on paper but not in real life. However, if the borrowers called Zain lines and then defaulted, the hole in safaricom's books would be real because they would actually receive an invoice from Zain,.. they would pay for this with real money..thus be exposed.

What I meant was that the Japanese culture discourages living on credit. Yes, we could turn CCK into our punching bag fro everything gone sour in ICT, but, we have a duty NOT to accept any 'unnecessary' no matter how tempting loans. It traps populations into debt cycles

$afcom seems to be employing some gambling rules these days or those casino things. They excite you then you fall for the deal then they inform you 'you've been charged....' Their promotions these days are not purely to cement user loyalty like before. like Lipua mamilioni, you become exited and dam& 3.50 bob gone. Its not much but.... I first felt cheated so cheated but i now understand their game. next it might be ;please call me' and the rest Ibibe Systems We believe so we can
