I just stumbled across this thread and suppose this is as good a time as any to intro myself to the group.
I'm British, born and raised not far from London and used to work at Google for 7 years in London and San Francisco as a product manager. Specifically I built YouTube's Send to TV<https://youtube.com/yt/sendtotv/>feature and developed the DIAL protocol <http://www.dial-multiscreen.org/>, both of which power some of the Chromecast software stack
If anyone's interested in finding more about the Chromecast technology or the inside story about how Chromecast was developed, I'm more than happy to share insights over some beers.
So what am I doing here in Kenya? Well inspired by a 3 month sabbatical when I toured tech startups in Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria & Ghana, I quit my job at Google and have moved here to Nairobi to build a tech business. We're called OkHi and our we're solving the lack of physical address system here in Kenya. Our vision is to give every Kenyan citizen an address by building a bottoms-up system that empowers and incentivizes everyone to contribute their location data via their mobile phone.
