Hi Wallace, Safaricom 3G is on GSM while the Orange 3G+ is on CDMA. This means that the modem u used was connecting to the Orange GPRS. For 3G speeds on Orange, I would encourage you to buy a Huawei CDMA 2000 modem. On a different note, I would discourage unlocking modems since they are relatively affordable now. hi folks i have a safaricom modem that is unlocked and every time i connect an orange modem it disconnects after 2 minutes... is this common when a modem is unocked and does one enjoy the 3g speeds on a unlocked modem but using orange 3g lines? Guess what im asking is whether the 3g network speeds is dependednt on the modem or the subscriber network...... i have an e220 modem...will it pick 3g speeds of an orange line?
regards.
