Washington, Ping is more of a download (a GET request) from a server hence is showing such a good response, maybe your uplink is really bad. OR You might be trying to authenticate on the SMTP which is not necessary. Check if in your Advanced mail settings if you log in to your server. OR The server is unstable... when loaded it bogs down for a while. In this case you'd have to wait for 45 minutes for the 4 MB to go, a sad resolution. Why? Is it a 'faster' one than smtp.jambo.co.ke? Bandwidth being a konstant, I think it might not make a difference what server I use, unless there is something I am still missing again:-)
