I've been reading The Facebook Effect<http://www.facebook.com/thefacebookeffect>, and a few things stand out: - No quick cash mentality. Money was not their primary motivation. Zuckerberg wanted 'a more open society'. Probably still isn't. If it was, they would have sold out ages ago. - They worked really really hard. - Having the 'conditions' right and taking advantage of them. Time, Network, Market, Skills etc - Learning from the mistakes of others - apparently friendster.com was such a hit initially that its servers ground to a halt... Dont bother going east africa if you havent even conquered your backyard. Kenyans are just too lazy to create value, people want quick riches hence the corruption movement.
