Statement on Election Results
Dear Members, Following our call for voter registration, 39 members checked in. Ballots were sent to all *except *those whose date of registration to the Chapter was after 1st March 2014 or those who had not provided all required details (5 in number). By close of the voting period on 23rd March at 11.59 pm, we received 26 filled ballots. In verifying the ballots, it was noted that there were 7 which had strange ISOC numbers. The committee ruled them as spoilt votes. One had an ISOC number alternating digits One had an ISOC number alternating digits (i.e ABCED instead of ABCDE) and it was found to be an honest mistake. Of the 19 valid votes, Charles Oloo has 10 and Barrack Otieno 9. Attached please find an analysis of the votes. Dear Grace and elections committee, I also wish to take this opportunity to thank the elections committee for a commendable job despite the challenges. I also appreciate the support of colleagues who took time and voted for me as well as for Charles and the other elected officers for responding to the call for elections i wish them well, i hope the committee will document its experiences since they might be useful in future. I promised to abide by the decision of this committee and as such will stand by the decision it has made. Let us focus on the future. As for Barrack, your effort in setting up the ISOC-KE chapter will forever remain in the history of the chapter. And I do hope you will continue to offer your insights to the new team. Dear All, At last patient and patient will be a good tool for making the Good work of the committee to be shinning again. For me i think this committee needs our all in one support to stregthen structures within this very chapter and beyond. Kudos to you all. In my view, ISOC local chapters will definitely play important part in the global internet community going forward. If the US government relinquishes control of IANA and therefore ICANN getting more powerful foothold into the internet policy management, and control, then our ISOC Kenya Chapter (an at-large structure recognized by ICANN) becomes a powerful voice for the local internet community in Kenya for Kenyans... I believe by having an elected team now in office, we are sure to being respected within the global peers of internet users.
