Dear Members, We have been having meetings every third Saturday of the month and we are looking for innovative ways of attracting new members whilst fullfing ISOC's mandate, in our last meeting we discussed possibilities of having talks from industry leaders and visiting institutions that play a key role in shaping how the Internet is used locally. I would therefore like to invite volunteers to speak on the following areas which will then be used to form a calendar: Internet Exchange Points:, peering and related issues IP v 6 Internet Rights and Principles RIR's Local content Cyber Security The Domain Name Industry Internet Standards You may suggest more areas , the aim is to create awareness on ongoing initiatives, if you know someone from government, Civil Society, academia who can speak please invite them. Dear Barrack, Regarding IXPs the EANOG of which I am a member, had a meeting last Saturday concerning BGP a very essential network routing protocol. I would suggest that in future if you need speakers on technical issues on some of the topics you listed, you could approach the group or even join the mailing list eanog@lists.my.co.ke. You can contact Michuki Mwangi or Phares Kariuki to include you in the list. Nice weekend! :-) Paul M On 31 Mar 2012, at 7:44, Barrack Otieno <otieno.barrack@gmail.com> wrote:
