Best regards, Raquel Gatto From: Constance Bommelaer <bommelaer@isoc.org> Date: Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 13:33 To: Internet Policy External <InternetPolicy@elists.isoc.org>, " internetsociety_chapterleaderscommunityne@ConnectedCommunity.org" < internetsociety_chapterleaderscommunityne@ConnectedCommunity.org>, " internetsociety_advisorycouncilne@ConnectedCommunity.org" < internetsociety_advisorycouncilne@ConnectedCommunity.org> Subject: [Internet Policy] WSIS+10 negotiations are accelerating Dear Members, As many of you are aware, the *WSIS+10 Review Non-Paper* <http://unpan3.un.org/wsis10/Portals/5/WSIS%2010%20GA/WSIS%20nonpaper%20draft%20-%20final.pdf> was recently released, and we have a very small window to react. The UN website was updated just a few hours ago: the document is now open for comments -* including from non-governments* - until 18 Sept. (see details here <http://unpan3.un.org/wsis10/Events/1st-Preparatory-Meeting/Comments-for-non-paper>). The Internet Society will be working on a submission and would welcome any thoughts or insights from its members. ISOC strongly believes *the **WSIS+10 Review process needs to be open to all stakeholders* <http://www.openwsis2015.org/>. We commend the UN on opening up this comments process to non-government entities and we hope to continue to see this level of openness throughout the remainder of the process. What happens next? The document will be reworked into a "zero draft" by the end of September and then discussed during the second WSIS+10 Informal Interactive Stakeholder Consultations to be held in New York on 19 October 2015. *= > Please note that the registration closes tomorrow, 11 September, 17:00EDT. If you are considering attending the October meeting, register urgently here <https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1npwf4wuIl9Tl_k0Hpnvz68Pjh5Cdi9J6lGF-gl_R_m8/viewform>.* ISOC is currently shaping a new policy fellowship program to promote further engagement in the WSIS consultations, and event registration will be needed as a formal requirement. More on the fellowship from my colleague Raquel Gatto soon! *Useful links*: - WSIS Process Roadmap <http://unpan3.un.org/wsis10/roadmap> - ISOC WSIS resources <http://www.internetsociety.org/wsis> Best regards, Constance _______________________________________________ To manage your ISOC subscriptions or unsubscribe, please log into the ISOC Member Portal: https://portal.isoc.org/ Then choose Interests & Subscriptions from the My Account menu.
