As many of you are aware, the
WSIS+10 Review Non-Paper was recently released, and we have a very small window to react. The UN website was updated just a few hours ago: the document is now open for comments -
including from non-governments - until 18 Sept. (see
details
here). The Internet Society will be working on a submission and would welcome any thoughts or insights from its members.
ISOC strongly believes
the WSIS+10 Review process needs to be open to all stakeholders. We commend the UN on opening up this comments process to non-government entities and we hope
to continue to see this level of openness throughout the remainder of the process.
What happens next?
The document will be reworked into a "zero draft" by the end of September and then discussed during the second WSIS+10 Informal Interactive Stakeholder Consultations to be held in New York on 19 October 2015.
ISOC is currently shaping a new policy fellowship program to promote further engagement in the WSIS consultations, and event registration will be needed as a formal requirement. More on the fellowship from my colleague Raquel Gatto soon!
