
If you don't mind non-Linux, then pfSense is quite lightweight and very powerful, with a GUI.
And for Linux firewall, this may be where you want to start http://www.shorewall.net/ Its just a nice wrapper if you don't want to get your hands dirty with iptables Muriithi
