For those of you who have missed the news, Google has been trying out for several months , in the streets of San Francisco, cars that drive themselves. You got to give it up for thinking far into the future while we are locally blaming Safaricom for taking away jobs that we never did well and charged highly (Thread on Safaricom Hosting) -- with Regards: The Hacker whose people troubled Paypal http://www.cio.co.ke/view-all-main-stories/1999-the-hacker-whose-qpeopleq-tr...

...and some University in germany beat them to it - they presented a taxi which actually self drives - I can't get the link now, but my sure our dear friend google can give the link ./Ok3ch On Thu, Oct 14, 2010 at 4:06 PM, Dennis Kioko <dmbuvi@gmail.com> wrote:

Yup, you'd have missed it if you lived in a hole :) Think now of having a public transport system where passengers pay electronically (a la M-PESA) and you select your destination on some touch-screen map and you sit and enjoy the ride. Timely schedules (maybe by using some route heuristics like from Google Earth to escape jammed routes), with 24-hour operation. In the not so far off future...matatu drivers beware!

Seems like all "Minority Report"s Steven Spielberg technology will catch up with us: First it was "the sixth sense project" Then the tablets like iPad Now; self driving cars - pretty good for designated drunk drivers !
