OT- Mobile App - urgently needed below are specs... contact me if it is

We are currently on an event plan for our client a soft drinks manufacturer and we would like your professional opinion before we present our ideas formally. We wish to develop an app to be used at a golf tournament- an app that will show users the distances they have covered, when they need to re-hydrate and the nearest watering points etc. Kindly give us your opinion on: - - If the idea is executable - What needs to be in place for it to be executed - Timelines for developing app - Cost of app - Technology needed on the golf course to ensure app is working - Any other relevant information

Now this is interesting :-) On Thu, Jan 23, 2014 at 10:12 AM, Joseph Maina <mainasoft00@gmail.com>wrote:

I you know how the game works and how the course is navigated and managed, then it would be possible to draft some of a flow chart showing the process. I would also look at opportunities where the players can keep a history of their play and handicaps achievement process in different tournaments and over time improvements.. A lot of thought process need to be put in place and probably use a captain to guide you further, I am sure they have greater idea they would like to automate.. There are quite a number of things to consider but the most important one is: Is there any existing app (or set of apps) that can do this? if *not*, then you need to have answers to: 1. Devices to be used (all the same platform, iOS, Android, Blackberry etc) - 2. Network coverage throughout the course 3. Who is paying for the data access? 4. Will the data be needed after (meaning you'll need a central server or sync system to be developed) 5. What happens if the device runs out of charge, will it sync it's data once its charged 6. How much user interaction will be needed to track hydration? Once you've answered these (and many others that more skunks will provide) will you get better answers to questions like cost, duration etc. My 2ct. Great app. There is need to find out also if the users will be allowed to use their mobile phones on the course. I understand as part of the rules of the games, members are/might not be allowed to use mobile phones on the course. R, T21 On Thu, Jan 23, 2014 at 4:43 PM, John K. <kamau.john@gmail.com> wrote:

To keep things simple here goes: 1. If the idea is executable? Yes 2. What needs to be in place for it to be executed? Signed agreement as far as hardware on the ground ~> Nothing 3. Time-lines for developing the App? Depends on final requirements specification and assumptions that all requirements are provided for in a timely manner 4. Cost of App? As 3 above, would depend on the requirements 5. Technology on the golf course to ensure the app is working? None whatsoever. 6. Any other relevant information? All that's needed is: - To implement an app that make use of GPS and Maps APIs - Pre-plot the GPS coordinates of the "watering holes" and have that data put on the map - Define after what distance a player needs to re-hydrate. This would be redundant as the watering holes can be placed at points that are obviously the places players need to re-hydrate.... unless you want to make things more interesting and use each players' BMIs to determine when each player should re-hydrate. - Distance coverage. This should be a no-brainer if you leverage the GPS api on the phone. You can then get the distance from there Hope this points you in a favorable direction Steve ----- Original Message ----- | From: "Joseph Maina" <mainasoft00@gmail.com> | To: "Skunkworks Mailing List" <skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> | Sent: Jueves, 23 de Enero 2014 7:12:47 | Subject: [Skunkworks] OT- Mobile App - urgently needed below are | specs... contact me if it is | We are currently on an event plan for our client a soft drinks | manufacturer and we would like your professional opinion before we | present our ideas formally.
