Had to share this. A random guy just called me from a Safaricom number (0701-582665) to say that I have won 50 K and wanted to take me through how to access the loot. I decided to play along. Guy: Congratulations, you've won yourself 50K. Before we proceed I need to confirm that you are the real owner of this number. (OKAY) Guy: What is your name: (I say Joseph Kamau*) * not real Guy: Confirmed it is in the system. When was the last time you used M-Pesa and How much did you send? (TODAY, I SENT 10K)...confirmed. if we send you 50 K now, what will be your new balance (70K, i said)..OK Guy: Now we have a set of two numbers which you will need to enter in your phone. They will help 'EXPAND' your Mpesa account to be able to hold more than 50K. Please give us a another line we can reach you on to take you through the process of retrieving your win. (I GAVE HIM MY Airtel LINE) GUY CALLS MY AIRTEL...Now we have the winning number and a code number. Go to the Mpesa menu and press okay twice. Enter the winning number (000254702314871) [OF COURSE I DIDN'T ENTER, WROTE THE NUMBERS ON A PIECE OF PAPER ], press ok. Now Enter the code number (00016666) and press ok twice. GUY: By this time the phone should ask for your PIN. Don't tell me the PIN punch it directly...it is your secret number don't share it with anyone ...lol [OKAY I HAVE ENTERED] GUY: Press ok and wait for the money to be transferred to your account,... With the guy still on the line we waited for more than 10 mins... until my lol sold me out!! With all the lottery going on in Kenya today, am sure some people have already fallen victim to this kind thuggery....the guy wanted me to send 16,666 (code number) to his other number!!

The caller had my mum's name that he used to call her when she answered the call. She became so scared that she hardly left home. The idiot, threatened to kill her, if she didn't send to hiom some ca$h. When the matter was followed up, it emerged that the caller, was immobile based for about one month, thus a 'jailed idler' waiting to steal. Such scammers are in our midst.
