
am working with a database called sybase can anyone help me why it keeps on hunging

What Sybase edition are you using? i.e (Sybase 9,10,11 or 12?) What is your machine's hardware specifications?

Ok temporal solution is to check whther the logs are full,if they are you can dump the transaction logs for the database,you do this if at all there is no replication facility attached to it.. Next check the logsegment free space,if it is less than 20% then you will need to expand the database. Also you have to check the storage space available . Another thing,restarting the sybase server oftenly always help alot as the tempdb is recreated affresh everytime you restart the server,improving on the server speed.
