Jambopay win the Sh2.7 billion tender to develop and deploy the e-payment system for Nairobi County

This is worthy noting. Appreciation of Local IT entrepreneurs to offer solutions to our challenges is undoubtedly a great move by County of Nairobi.

Kudos just to throw a spanner into the works, how are such projects coasted or how do you get to the final figure. On 1 Aug 2014 15:28, "Josy Ngatia via skunkworks" < skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

I think you meant 'costed' not 'coasted', but all this is in project management class which may take a whole semester to explain - although am very sure you know this so just say what I think you wanted to say, that Kshs 2.7billion seems too much? ./Ok3ch On Thu, Aug 7, 2014 at 2:42 PM, kris njoroge via skunkworks < skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

How?? 1. Billable hours in pre and post-sales technical support services. 2. CAx estimate vis-à-vis estimated number of end-users and use of 3rd party service providers

@Ok3ch that was i wanted to say costed... After re-reading the business daily article - April - http://goo.gl/XQaDld think the total revenue is the 2.7B and not what jambopay will get for there services but what the council hopes to get. Either way think it's poor use of council monies. In terms of raising revenue for the council the simplest way would have been to privatise, the council already knows an approximate amount that they could get and therefore could use that as a base to work something out with the private companies pay us x per month, the rest is yours(for the first year...) Advantage to the council, they don't pay for nothing, the private companies like in any other investment would invest in the payment systems etc. What if the council starting charging per hour say 30/- any time of day and maybe more in the CBD would they not get more? Something else if the figure is correct(2.7B) would they not as easily just buy parking meters? What about meters on the the street that i can pay with coin, card, mobile cash and get a print out for the duration that I want to be there? That in my opinion would be a better way to make use of tech. On Thu, Aug 7, 2014 at 3:32 PM, Okechukwu via skunkworks < skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

Yes, I think you are very right on the solution not being aptly thought about IMHO ./Ok3ch On Fri, Aug 8, 2014 at 8:49 AM, kris njoroge <krsnjo@gmail.com> wrote:

@Kris, You are very right. The county governments should privatise revenue collection and focus on development and recurrent expenses management. I don't see why they can't give 20/= for evey 100/= collected to cater for proft and investment and keep 80/= A private investor will focus on innovation, efficiency and effectivess by use of technology to make more revenue. On the other hand, the county will focus more on prudent management and utilisation of the revuenue generated This way, every one gains Regards On Friday, August 8, 2014 2:03 PM, Okechukwu via skunkworks <skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote: Yes, I think you are very right on the solution not being aptly thought about IMHO ./Ok3ch On Fri, Aug 8, 2014 at 8:49 AM, kris njoroge <krsnjo@gmail.com> wrote: @Ok3ch that was i wanted to say costed...
