And when they do figure it out the advantage will be in another ecosystem. The designs of the phones and the cultural and UI nuances that make the iPhone a hotcake reside in the west. That is more valuable than the manufacturing plants. If need be the manufacturing can be moved back to the US. The phones will cost more but they can do it.
