Safaricom have just launched their 0.3G service again! Here I am, trying to download a 13MB file and it's telling me 18hrs (and counting..) left!!! whats up wash? is it another "unlimited internet offer"? if its any consolation, im getting 3942ms and 50 percent packet loss pinging kdn.co.ke from malindi on a connection that was giving me 18Mbps a day ago. Depends on where you are Odhiambo. Am around Kilimani, and I have downloaded a 94Mb file in about 10 min using Safcom. I have tryed to use Safaricom Huweii modem E160 on a Mac. Apparently no drivers. Search on the web takes me to Chinese with no translation to Swahili, English or French. Sorry I did a mistake not to take the offer to study in China I see the need now. Anybody using the Safaricom modems on his Mac please help. They help desk will take time. Preston
Preston, What type of Mac are you using and what version of Mac OSX? The E160 comes with Mac drivers which load automatically when the device is connected. When I got my E160 (for use on Black Macbook running OSX Tiger) - it wasn't loading - I had to delete some previously installed Huawei extensions from the Extensions folder - then it loaded perfectly.
