Live Video Streaming of a funeral

Hi all, A friend of mine wants to stream his mother's funeral live for his other sibling in the West, He is inquiring if he can get anyone to do this for him. Any one in the list please. Liwindi

This is probably not a robust solution, but, laptop+modem+webcam+skype = video chatting! On Tue, Jul 12, 2011 at 9:35 AM, liwindi joshua <liwindi81@gmail.com> wrote:

From their website ,Oovoo is supported by iPad and as well as galaxy tab. So yeah it would be a better option on either of the devices than using a laptop.

What has an iPad got to do with this??????? Peter and Simon both suggested a simple solution. Who cares whether its an iPad or not. The relatives in the west can view it on whatever they have be it Desktop, Laptop, mobile or tablet it does not matter. What if the guy does not have an iPad. Is the person trying to floss or trying to stream a funeral ? What is important is: 1. filming the event = camera (in this case, a web cam), why would someone walk around with an iPad instead of a camera. That beats me. The viewers wont care what you used anyway. They want to follow the funeral service and that's it. 2. How process the captured data = whatever software works. Skype is good, maybe coz they can post comments or even make a speech. This is coz it would really be a video conference. The laptop can be plugged into the PA . I dont know if Oovoo does this. 3. Data transfer. Depends on where the funeral is. Not everywhere in Ke has 3G, so beware. Steve ----- "simon njoroge" <snjoro45@gmail.com> wrote:

@Steve, Wash talked about an iPad due to portability vis-a-vis the laptop - and that was where it came from. Hi Liwindi, There is a live broadcast equipment that uses 3G and is designed to do just that (Live Broadcast over mobile networks). Unit is hosted in a backpack with like 7 sim cards providing connectivity through the 3G Network Server application receives and streams the feed to... anywhere else via network. Check out www.liveu.tv for details of the unit. Call Sam on 0722462156 for inquiries. They should have a unit available for hire. And by the way, when someone asks a question on this forum, it serves a better purpose to not only answer him/her but also give alternatives. You have no idea how many people may have wanted to do this but have a different equipment(s). Hi Liwindi,
There is a live broadcast equipment that uses 3G and is designed to do just that (Live Broadcast over mobile networks).
Unit is hosted in a backpack with like 7 sim cards providing connectivity through the 3G Network
Server application receives and streams the feed to... anywhere else via network.
Check out www.liveu.tv for details of the unit.
Call Sam on 0722462156 for inquiries. They should have a unit available for hire.

Collins, I do not think this is a smart solution. All the 7 SIM Cards will be contending to access on the same BTS and the throughput will be shared which means each will end up getting a fraction of the capacity, in addition to all the other users on the same sector, trust me it's not much. GPRS/EDGE/3G works very differently from any wireline-based solution, it's PDP Context based and not IP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPRS_Core_Network#PDP_Context). It has the propensity to work better in CBD where there are multiple BTS sites .. and this is a big might but I am not convinced this will work as expected. I am open to convincing.
