Hey Professionals!! Kindly offer your insights. I just graduated from college with a Bsc. IS but willing to join the IT arena. I am however stuck on which way to follow for my career having that technology is dynamically changing. Please help a friend. Any advice will be greatly honored. Regards

Hi, What did you like breaking while at school? What tickled u or still tickles u? Developing in tech needs lots of inner enthusiasm. Start there. Then once you identify that, its easier to choose a path for in here lies all manner of smiths who get paid for what they do. Tech bloggers, infosec, hardware guys, coders, proj managers, db admins. Software analysts, plane engineers and systems support guys, sales men, prophets, gadget breakers, designers, template gurus, doctors, architects, incubators, policy formulators, watchmen, ... in short none of them can give u guidance without your primary compass leaning at least at a sample set of fields u want to dive into. Mr. Morris, isn't that an over exaggerated expectation your putting on the mind of this fresh graduate. How will redpulse.co.ke do that? Are you probably just advertising your website!?? Charles, i suggest you start out in IT Support, it will give you a better view of most facets of IT in an organization and how they relate. In the long run it boils down to what tickles you as someone said. On Jun 15, 2015 4:39 AM, "Morris Mwanga via skunkworks" < skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

Hi, Myself I cleared campus this year in April. I undertook BSC.Computer Technology and also CCNA certified. I am currently working as an IT assistant in a non-IT firm. With a month of working, I now know that the next job (which by the way l am looking for one), will revolve around network projects. Currently l do almost everything but when I have a Network task, I am totally psyched up and all I do is narrate how awesome my day was. Advice : Try out everything first. In there you will know what tickles you. Kind Regards, Catherine Njoroge On Mon, Jun 15, 2015 at 8:26 AM, Jared Koyier via skunkworks < skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

To find a place in the order of things especially where tech is concerned is an up hill task. It however can be as simple as what is that one thing that you will do whether there is money in it or not and there lies the almost definite opportunity for you to exploit for a career and when you realize how good you have become at it, money will follow you. . Personally I was a software engineer for a few years, I then joined systems administration, while at it I learnt networks and broadcasting. When I left for business I was driven by telecommunication and communications protocols.. Now, with all the knowledge and exposure I am in ICT transformation and you can see the reason why.. I quite have a piece of everything. For now do not choose so much, gets your hands onto anything that comes your way and in no time you feel the nerves push you to a certain direction. regards Oliver Warm Regards, Oliver Ndegwa *TRIPLE PLAY COMMUNICATION*P.O.Box 5207-00506, Nairobi | Phone : 254 02688421 | Cell: +254 713777001, 717883937 Dev Towers, Tubman Rd ,Nairobi, Kenya. | website: | www.tripleplaylive.net | skype:oliver.snom | Google talk:olie.ndegwa On Mon, Jun 15, 2015 at 8:41 AM, Catherine njoroge via skunkworks < skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

Dear Charles, You mentioned that you did BSc IS. Am I correct in assuming IS is Information Systems? You proceed to say "...but willing to join the IT arena". I am just curious to find out and establish context 1.Did you have other options other than IT ? 2.Is IT the last resort if everything else fails?
