Hi all, I did something wrong in ubuntu 10.04 server and I need to undo the changes made by installing unwanted package+dependencies. So my question is how does one do a "system restore" in ubuntu server. Removing-purging tht particular package+dependencies wont help, damage already done. Yes i have googled for the last few days but the solutions an getting is for restoring from a backup. What am looking for is/are way(s) of rolling back to previous day before the package+dependencies was installed. Remember this is a server so no GUI. SOS. Rgds.

How do you expect to roll back when there is no backup? Anyway, I believe all Unix have a way to uninstall a package and fix any breakage. While I am not from the Linux world, I don't understand what you mean by "won't help, damage is already done". Is that Linux or Windows Server?:-) Maybe you tell the Linux folks on this forum what it is you did, the damage it caused, and they tell you how to undo and fix? -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Damn!!

From history I would suggest you do apt-get remove the packages you apt-get installed then do an apt-get autoremove.
