Google seems to retain alot of information about account activity.
I created mine in India ages ago, and when I'm logging out, I still see alot of <google.co.in> as I get logged out. It's possible Google just defaulted your account to Kenya, (don't ask me how they did that....)
I agree with you here. Think they domicile accounts to specific regions to assist in tracking suspicious activities. They most likely keep a history of where you are located the last 6 hours and if account show up across the other side of the world all of a sudden, it could indicate account hijacking. Seen that on Facebook too. I don't have a Facebook account so I can't see what's in a friends profile. A friend of mine just sent her password to get around the problem and I couldn't log on to her Facebook account. The only possible explanation was the geographic distance. Muriithi

Then the issue is that the devices are registered to kenyan numbers. You need to get a UK number/sim and use it on the device so that google recognises its in UK. This is a long short and hard to achieve. Have you tried using a device without a sim card like a tablet or a media player running android linked to your google account? :-) In my initial explanation, I said I am using a Desktop sitting in the UK, on BT network. So it has all the ingredients for UK identity. There is just something, possibly in my gmail account settings, that is being a show-stopper and Google are looking into it and will advise. Hi Wash, have you tried the Proxmate extension?

Hi Dennis, No, I haven't. I think I do not need it at all when the PC itself is in the UK. I am accessing a PC on the other end of my WAN. There must be something in my account - as has been suggested by others - which makes Google believe I am not in the UK. On 5 June 2013 09:56, Dennis Kioko <dmbuvi@gmail.com> wrote:

How about you just take your computer as is, open Chrome, install the Proxmate plugin, turn it on, and see if it works? It won't hurt, I promise, worst is it not working, but it might just work :-)

If you have an android device already linked to your gmail account, I guess google will still recognize you as Kenyan. I suggest you just create a new google account from the computer in the UK and complete your transaction.Once done you can keep it or discard the account. If you have an android device already linked to your gmail account, I guess google will still recognize you as Kenyan. I suggest you just create a new google account from the computer in the UK and complete your transaction.Once done you can keep it or discard the account.
