Hi, I know a couple of IP and Commercial Lawyers... Together with @James Muendo's contacts, I'm sure we can bring 3-5 of these for a workshop sometime soon? What questions would the Skunkworks team like to ask? What would you like to know... An agenda of sorts is needed before we organize it. I would love to hear what they have to say about software licencing, software patents, and copyright laws. It is a web of confusing terms and legal crap when for example you are advised that building your own software whilst working for a software firm gives all copyright and patent rights to your employer. What is even more confusing is organizations patenting or copyrighting open source projects! I need help understanding scenarios like that of Oracle and Google over Android. regards. On a related note, SAP was ordered to pay Oracle $1.3B for copyright infringement. http://money.cnn.com/2010/11/23/technology/sap_oracle_settlement/ On Wed, Nov 24, 2010 at 10:54 AM, Duggan Kim <mdkimani@gmail.com> wrote:

I would love to hear any the cost break down for different patents and copy rights. The cost break down should also include legal fees (on average) and should include costs if rights extend countries and regions. Legal options available for people who feel that their IP has been violated would be an interesting topic (IMHO).a key area of focus would be how to fight for the "Davids" against the "Goliaths" using a "stone and sling". On Wed, Nov 24, 2010 at 2:00 PM, Geoffrey Mimano <soyfactor@gmail.com>wrote:

I really look forward to this. It's a very interesting topic, esp. considering the established guys, who'd rather steal that see you get started (as was discussed earlier here). If this event was held at appropriate times - like over the weekend or in the evenings, I don't see anyone daring to miss it. Gentlemen, another brilliant idea from skunks-KE. I think a permanent online page with the information hosting all the data gathered will also be excellent too. Call it an IP portal, bringing together all the players. :-) On Tue, Nov 23, 2010 at 6:39 PM, Phares Kariuki <pkariuki@gmail.com> wrote:
