I thought Web services are just pieces of software designed and constructed above the standard http protocols, no? I have written RESTful Web services that inter-operate with U.S.S.D / structured SMS applications and every other time, I had to deploy them on an http container instance .....
You just need a good server
GlassFish server from Oracle was my choice at the time. Others have done it on Apache Tomcat, vanilla Apache, Engine-X (Ngingx) etc. Martin.
