I have never tried before but I guess those who leave their laptops on hibernation run the risk of being found by strangers. Golden rule of thumbs: turn of your machine while on transit.
Think hibernation is fine, the problem may be suspend. Hibernate dump all the RAM contents to swap and turn off the laptop completely. Suspend leave some circuits active, but can't see why Bluetooth should be active to be Frank. I am curious to see how true this is, and will update this thread when I test it Muriithi

I heard about the battery detection thing. A colleague lost their Mac at Panafric last year in similar fashion. The vehicle had presidential tint(extremely dark) and they managed to pick his lock and find it under the seats. My guess is that they study your habits.
