Hi Peter, Got Lost in this forest of multiple quotes. 1.Trust me PHP is easy, lots of people would say millions of words just to keep their esteem where they think is right.I have seen die hard (Java, python, groovy, ruby,C# ..) programmers etc who will never make 4 consecutive products before peeping at PHP.You even find their product site is developed by PHP. C# will very soon be dumped even by Microsoft themselves ,despite the fact that they tried to make it the flag carrier.Java has even tried to accommodate PHP,why..?People would swear of anything ...marketing sometimes includes lies. 2. There are Many DBs (RDBMS) but Maria is the one to one Replacement to MySQL. Oracle just like any other multi-national corporates are swallowing any competitors by buying them.Google went for youtube, S .African Breweries bought out Kibo breweries through Kenya Breweries ,killed Kibo breweries in Tanzania. They finally managed to eliminate competition to Tanzania Breweries which is theirs too.And they finally turned the factory into a go down. Now they are resuming with different ways of operation than the one that pushed them to buy it. 3.You cant decide other way round next day, unless there is something wrong in your decision and implementation processes.Well, you haven`t said anything about how we would die, if its by merging obviously the next owner would very much like to take over the customer base, and might come with something more intriguing. Careful approach during implementation and strong business practice and Stability of the software..trust me would guarantee you to work with for a very long time.Throughout the world people are still using legacy systems with comfortable operations.why should change ways that have been giving and still giving you edge? When there is a need to change ,then chances are the new ways need different product(s). PHP is easy Do you suppose PHP being easy is as result of the education, experience and exposure of the developer? I would assume that there are several people on this list who would say that Python is way easier than PHP, while others would swear by C#. What do you think? 2. MySQL and Oracle So essentially Oracle bought Sun for $7.4 billion so that they can pick whats good in MySQL, add it to Oracle DB and then kill MySQL so as to force users of MySQL to start buying Oracle DB? Other than MariaDB, are there no other open source RDBMS out there that can make a viable replacement for MySQL? 4. Your customers and your code In your earlier email, you said: Go for product that you can use longer even if the vendor collapse.... My earlier question was, if I buy your software today and tomorrow your company collapses, and then the day after, I want some changes in the way it works, what options do I have considering that I don't have access to the code? --
