Depends on where you are located, but try Coptic Hospital Ngong Road (Normal delivery is about 40k) or Nairobi Womens Hospital for a similar price. Please book now as you will not have time to do it later. On Wed, Jun 6, 2012 at 3:24 PM, Evon Wangari <evonwangari93@gmail.com>wrote:

Try St. Mary's Mission Hospital - Langata (about 8k as someone said, deposit only 5k to book, CS is about 15k), St. Francis Community Hospital (around 15k, some very good nurses to attend to you - comparable to Nairobi Womens Hspt, CS is about 20k) both these two have qualified nurses and doctors (not on call as others). Would prefer St. Francis Community Hospital because they have fewer patients and the care is great. Others are Kijabe Mission at Limuru (about 15k), Mater (about 25k without c/s). If you have medical insurance card just walk into Mater or Nairobi Womens. The other two dont accept NHIF. I hope I have assisted. Okay - just a small point of correction. "Very Good Nurses" is quite relative/subjective! That is from my experience with Nairobi Hospital, where I met some very carefree ones in the Labor Wards. I agree with everything else;( On Wed, Jun 6, 2012 at 4:06 PM, Peter Osotsi <peter.osotsi@gmail.com> wrote:

Evon, To second on Greg and Solomon, think post natal, two, think about the clothes n everything else that comes with new baby. I'd recommend St. Francis Community though the cost of additional days beyond the 2 days assigned will cost you kinda 1k per day, medicine is not included. Im a father and dad to two - im giving the advice as much as a father does. As Greg says, you'll need pampers etc, you'll need to do the blood tests afresh in the institutions you'll attend and that wil always cost extra.
From Eastlands, either St. Mary's Langata or St. Francis Community Hospital will be close.
*Why I recommend St. Francis, my wife had a complicated second pregnancy that mean't we went to pretty many hospitals in Nai (including Nairobi Hospital) for help, it cost me a lot (including the sleep) since my medical card had expired. The guys at St. Francis eventually helped us - a lot - at the least cost. And they saved our lovely handsome baby boy, now 1 1/2 years old. I'll always recommend them any day.* Peter On Wed, Jun 6, 2012 at 4:08 PM, Gregory Okoth <gregory.okoth@gmail.com>wrote:

Congrats Evon, welcome to the world of being a parent. My daughter is just a month and 16 days, and just as Calvin has pointed out, a baby is a cash guzzler, but that's what parenthood is like. @Evon, can we start coding negotiations for our children's hand in checking whether there is some compatibility? Nice idea, except that this is setting a precedent. First, we do not know if the skunkling is already covered. Secondly, the skunklette did not ask for this from us. Thirdly is the question of whether we can raise funds for faceless individuals? I am not saying we shouldn't fundraise. Don't get me wrong. It's just that I haven't done this before. In another online forum, we've raised funds for needy kids and taken them to school (High School) and they are there and we monitor their performance, get reports on the funds raised and how they are used and we can _physically_ hold the kids we sponsor. Although this is a total OT, I nevertheless have to chip in as I became a father about a week ago, and I know how it can be stressful as a fist timer. Well, the thing is it all depends on: - where are you based? This is crucial because it will enable listers to give you options 1. are you on NHIF any other health care (insurance) plan? If not, enrol ASAP and pay for about six months upfront. If you are, make sure it's updated and the card is easily accessed, in case you are almost about to deliver since hospitals require the contributor's ID and the updated NHIF evidence on the day you go to the hospital for delivery. - Where do you go for your ante-natal visits? Relate that to 1 and 2 above - Is there anyone who you can contact when you finally need the help? The delivery is estimated to at two weeks before or after the EDD. Haiya, choice is yours. Depends on where you are located, but try Coptic Hospital Ngong Road (Normal delivery is about 40k) or Nairobi Womens Hospital for a similar price.
Please book now as you will not have time to do it later.
