Its quite a simple process to restore 'service' on your iphone - search skunkworks archives about two months ago --- I posted a whole article and software links to jailbreak an iPhone 3G... Just be careful not to use the latest iphone sware 3.1.3 and the latest baseband - it will lock your phone !!! But anything from 3.0.1 downwards is quite unlockable.
@Mwathi Please follow this instructions - do not let iTunes download and install the software for you. Rather download the SW versions from point (2).
