Has anyone been able to successfully authenticate windows 7 box against a Samba PDC ?

Vista and Windows 7's security policies are to only use NTLMv2 authentication. Samba doesnt.Youll need to downgrade the auth policy as described in the following links: http://www.builderau.com.au/blogs/codemonkeybusiness/viewblogpost.htm?p=3392... <http://www.builderau.com.au/blogs/codemonkeybusiness/viewblogpost.htm?p=339270746> http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd566199(WS.10).aspx <http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd566199(WS.10).aspx> http://developers.de/blogs/damir_dobric/archive/2009/08/16/enabling-of-ntlm-... Thats what am saying. For you to join a Win7 machine to the domain, you have to change some registry settings in the windows file and then you will be able to login without the trust relationship error. An error comes up up joining the machine to the domain but after that, you should be able to login into the domain. Found solution. No need to change registry settings just make sure that you dont primary dns suffix for the domain. This worked for windows 7 enterprise On Thu, Jan 27, 2011 at 12:35 PM, Kevin Kimani <kevinkimani@gmail.com>wrote:

Speaking of samba I recently setup a linux file server with samba but i've had difficulties creating a share for guest RW access. The share is visible from an xp box but access is always denied. I've followed an infinite number of guides on the net to no avail. I've set this up before successfully but this particular server is turning out to be a headache. Has any skunker found themselves in the same scenario and found a solution? I apologize for diverting the thread.
