Hello listers, A while back i read somewhere that a number of centers had been deployed countrywide through the partnership of the ICT board and some service providers. Im in need of info on where the nearest one to kilifi town is located. It is a shame, that today i finally meet someone that lost an ID card go to the police station and get denied an abstract, actually asked to come back in november (obviously a ploy to solicit monies). (I can give the names and numbers of the officers to whomever can act on it but that is besides the point). My point is, 1: Can the abstract be printed from the net and taken there to be filled by those guys (of course with a pen and ink for the stamp just in case). 2: After that, is there a way of ensuring this process is more transparent? (I checked the http://www.identity.go.ke website but there seem to be bugs on the search box). Anyone with a suggestion on how to do this better to please assist... -- *“The twentieth century has been characterized by three developments of great political importance: the growth of democracy, the growth of corporate power, and the growth of corporate propaganda as a means of protecting corporate power against democracy”* ~ Alex Carey ~ Tel No: 0x2af23696

Once upon a time, I was able to download the abstract from the kenya police website, unfortunately, I don't think that website is operational anymore. You know, you don't have to get the abstract/new id from Kilifi... I once lost mine somewhere in Ngong and applied for a replacement from my shaggs, on the other side of mount kenya, and all was well. and I think we as techies need to carefully consider our options, how about we by default install proxies on all webservers locally? On Mon, Jan 31, 2011 at 11:04 AM, Solomon Mburu Kamau <solo.mburu@gmail.com>wrote:

Why what? :-) Solo, the policemen are stupid! If they told someone to go back in November, why go back now? I'd rather deal with a cow than such a dog! -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Damn!!

I once went to one, and they send me to a bureau which photocopied at ksh 15. The catch is that they advised me to pay by money order at kshs. 150, totalling to about kshs. 165. The money order is then cancelled and the post master and the police station share the spoils.Been an 'industry insider' in the busy town, I got the abstract photocopied for 5 bob , without need for a money order. Went back to the police station, met a different guy who asked to see the money order, and I asked "what moneyorder?" . Anyway, he processed the abstract since i had it, The anti-climax was that the lost documents were trapped between my bed sheet and mattress for one week that the bed was not 'fully formatted'. If you appear with the abstract and dont mention you had been there before, they assume you are aware of the process and avoid taking you round in circles

he he he, clearly @dennis this formatting seems to be a universal problem. maybe we need to find someone that can create auto-formating beds. On Mon, Jan 31, 2011 at 12:41 PM, Solomon Mburu Kamau <solo.mburu@gmail.com>wrote:

Hi Collins, The abstract forms are usually downloaded for free from the www.kenyapolice.go.ke website and if you go to any police station they will tell you to go to their site and download them. Unfortunately, their site seems to be down...I noticed that their site is usually up and down up and down, up them hacked, down then up and then hacked...you know the rest. Tim.
