Ubuntu 11.04 has hit the streets | Natty Narwhal,”

Looks great.. downloaded it yesterday, now installing it. You might need this if you're planning on installing it: http://www.ubuntugeek.com/how-to-fix-common-gnome-3-issues-on-ubuntu-11-04-n... On 29 April 2011 09:18, Thuo Wilson <lixton@gmail.com> wrote:

Maybe am speaking too soon but I am not sure whether I am ready to embrace Unity yet, i'll stick to good old GNOME. -- ˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙ Regards, David Njuki @njukey [Google,Twitter,Yahoo]

David, You have a choice when logging in on Ubuntu 11.04. You may opt for Unity, Gnome (without effects) or Gnome with Compiz. It's not that Natty Narwhal doesn't come with Gnome bundled. I suggest you give it a shot, even if on VM. On 29 April 2011 09:31, David Njuki <njukey@gmail.com> wrote:

It was clever for Unity to support compiz but this business of trying to ape OSX is killing uniqueness. They should have built it like gnome-shell but with compiz support

what compbiz support , my compbiz kind of vanished after my upgrade yesterday, i should have known all software update headaches , but i think the osx thing makes my life kind of easier finding things On Fri, Apr 29, 2011 at 1:12 PM, James Nzomo <kazikubwa@gmail.com> wrote:

if you use ubuntu as your primary os, chill out for 11.11, aside from unity (which IMHO is totally horrendous, the rest is just like 10.10, only buggier). On Fri, Apr 29, 2011 at 4:06 PM, Theus Owuor <kootie73@gmail.com> wrote:

I tried out the Alpha and Beta versions of Natty, I dont think am ready to embrace it, Am waiting for Mint 11 :) -- ˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙ Regards, David Njuki @njukey [Google,Twitter,Yahoo]

i happily move back to gnome shell after unity crashing severally. the unity landing area needs a lot of work to minimize the clicks wasted when opening an app -- -erastus On Fri, Apr 29, 2011 at 4:17 PM, David Njuki <njukey@gmail.com> wrote:

All in all the way things are going i'd really like to fork Gnome-Shell and find a way of adding compiz support. Reinventing desktop effects (with KWIN and MUTTER+GNOME SHELL) is a big waste of time and developers efforts

You can use ORTA theme. Looks GOOD. Wilson./ On 29 April 2011 17:01, James Nzomo <kazikubwa@gmail.com> wrote:

Am not a fan of this new interface. I can understand why they would want to make the interface for the regular folk who just want to use Email and browse. . . Al stick to the gnome 3 for now. . and it seems more unstable than 10.10.
