Hi guys, Needs some help with a domain change within Godaddy. We requested the guys holding a domain to change it to us (Godaddy Account Change). They provided us with domains Authorization Info and insisted that's all we need. I did my research and couldn't figure out to do that. I'm not convinced that this authorization info will do for an account change; I only know one way of doing the account change. (I know it's necessary for domain transfers between registrars). Could I be missing something? Please help. -- Samuel Waithaka http://www.linkedin.com/in/waithaka http://twitter.com/samwaithaka

If you are a "registrar" (if you have a domain registration account with providers like GoDaddy, eNomCentral, Tucows) then that is all you need. Just login to your registry and initiate a domain transfer (this is what they are forcing you to do). With the Auth Code, you are good to go. However, if you are not a registrar at all, then tell them so and inform them that the only change you need is DNS Servers (I suppose that's what you mean by "change it to us") ..wait a moment ... you need Account Change within GoDaddy? Then I think they are right - you should proceed with the "internal" Domain Transfer using the Auth Code. Anyway, it's a long time since I dealt with domain registration/transfers so I could be wrong. -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ I can't hear you -- I'm using the scrambler. Account change is possible and very easy. The guy needs to forward the domain to your account. All you need to provide is your registrar email and the username/Account ID Regards Pithon On Mon, Mar 19, 2012 at 11:36 AM, Samuel Waithaka <samwaithaka@gmail.com>wrote:

@Pithon, that's exactly what I thought. @Washington:
Just login to your registry and initiate a domain transfer Now that is what I just couldn't crack...and doubting if it's possible.

@Samuel, Have you looked at it? Have you logged into your registry account and looked at the options available for domain transfers, etc? Well, I lastly handled domain registrations/transfers in 1997. You know how long six months can be in ICT, right?:-) On Mon, Mar 19, 2012 at 12:01, Samuel Waithaka <samwaithaka@gmail.com>wrote:

@Washington, Yup.. I'm sure I did exhaust the given options. I've had to really comb through them to be sure. Well true.. I think we know how to 'archive'.. :-) On Mon, Mar 19, 2012 at 12:49 PM, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com>wrote:
