Huawei Vodafone 845 Phone locked

Hi People, Is it right for a provider to "network lock" a phone forever? I bought a HUawei Vodafone 845 5 to 6 years back and since my primary line #safcom has moved to a better phone. I need the vf845 unlocked. How do i petition, twitter isnt getting response from safcom yet. Imei 351602041519107 Kind Regards, Wilson./

Wilson, Walk to a Safaricom customer care and you will be given the unlock code. I had the same phone and that's the only way I got the issue sorted fast. Actually they should give you several codes that can be used to unlock the phone for the various service providers around. On Tue, Feb 11, 2014 at 11:54 AM, Thuo Wilson <lixton@gmail.com> wrote:

I am yet to hear of any provider who temporarily locks a handset/modem only for a period of time. If you intend to question the moral stand on that... all the best. If you simply need the phone unlocked, try online fora specialising in that or outfits that charge a fee for that. Better still, go DIY :-) Tony.

Safaricom can give you an unlock code. It is however at their discretion to do it or not. Basically you don't have "rights" here. On Feb 11, 2014 12:07 PM, "Tony Likhanga" <tlikhanga@gmail.com> wrote:

And mind you, Safaricom no longer lock their phones. On Tuesday, 11 February 2014, Mark Mwangi <mwangy@gmail.com> wrote:

Well its not in their interest to release the codes seeing as not everyone wants to move anyway. I suggest walking into a safaricom care center. On Tue, Feb 11, 2014 at 3:46 PM, Thuo Wilson <lixton@gmail.com> wrote:
