KRA are monster as said above Usually, it's 25% of value item (import fee) + 16 % VAT on total amount. e.g. if your item is valued at 1000 USD, then fee will be 250 USD. Then add 16% of 1250 USD = 200 USD. So total fee is 450 USD ! Hope you get it ! But this applies to standard items, I have no idea regarding computers... Do they still fall in 0% VAT ? Agree with the above, you will realise that electronics/PC are much cheaper from local retailers than abroad (ebay included). There is no way of telling how much you will be charged if there is a charge. I bought an Android media player (I will be selling) for 80 usd from deal extreem and the customs guys had no idea what it was so I told them it cost 50 USD and I was charged 2250 sh as duty. In Feb this year, I ordered for some PCi FXO ports from China. And the good man there wrote on their declaration form that they were network cards totaling to around $35. <hindsight> I think he had worked with Kenyans before as I did not tell him how to avoid taxes </hindsight> Essentially I only paid the invoice price + shipping, *no IDF*, *no* *TAX* The supplier I have identified has put up an addendum to his ordering page essentially asking, if there is a way that I can avoid tax I include the request upon confirmation of payment.
