Norway will be first country to move from FM to Digital Audio Broadcasting

Good stuff! TV first then radio. This anwers a question I asked about one year ago i.e 'Is there anything like digital radio broadcast and are we going to move radio after moving TV' http://www.theverge.com/2015/4/19/8453165/norway-end-fm-radio-2017 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Audio_Broadcasting -- ./mouz

A number of stations (most of them affiliated to KBC) are already doing digital broadcasting alongside the FM broadcasting. If your TV decoder allows you to, you can check the entire list from there. Tony.

Interesting. Does it mean we might start having phones having chips to receive this format over or plus FM soon, probably also digital TV on phones (not the current DSTV Mobile but the other free to air channels)? Alex - your phone can already receive digital audio broadcasts! Any device that has internet access can receive digital audio - Most of the time, you just need a special app, like pandora or even iTunes ./Ok3ch On Tue, Apr 21, 2015 at 8:59 AM, Alex Ngatia via skunkworks < skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

Hey Oketch, That would be internet radio, or a streaming service like the ones you stated. This would be a radio signal so I think it would need some sort of tuner. Something along the lines of this <https://www.worlddab.org/products/digital-radio-receivers>. It should be a replacement for analogue FM. You do not need those tuners to listen to digital audio - Internet radio is a form of digital audio. ./Ok3ch On Tue, Apr 21, 2015 at 12:10 PM, Alex Ngatia <alex.ngatia@gmail.com> wrote:

But I think @Okech is right Internet radio is still a digital broadcast platform just like what @Tony has said FM stations are still digitally broadcast over DVB-T The idea here though is T-DAB so as not to lose focus.
