For ye all who use the Blackberry (BIS), is this service network dependent? If not, what does it depend on? Suppose I traveled to another country and decided to get a cheaper mobile service provider there, what will determine whether or not my BB would work? -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ I can't hear you -- I'm using the scrambler. The BIS has a public IP or must be reachable via a public IP..when out of the country you activate roaming and that is how you reach your server. On 28 Oct 2011, at 01:51 PM, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com> wrote:

Hi. It depends if the service provider also gave you BIS services to route your traffic to your mail server. You need to ask them if it is inclusive or it is chargeable. Roaming is Dammn expensive since you are charged both ways for data. ./Sam On 10/29/11, George <theonlydamnedavailablename@gmail.com> wrote:

Are you confusing BES with BIS? On Sat, Oct 29, 2011 at 08:50, George <theonlydamnedavailablename@gmail.com>wrote:

Nope, BIS is accessible to all blackberry's as long as the mobile service provider has provisioned the BIS service for your number. in BIS, you only need to set your email address and optionally your mail server IP, since it uses IMAP/POP3 or Exchange Web Services (EWS) this then is a pull email service. To have the true push service you need the BES, provisioned by again, your service provider. This is only possible if you are on a roaming service, as the service is provider-dependent. I stand to be corrected on the BES being service provider-dependent, but this is what i know from experience. ./Sam On Sat, Oct 29, 2011 at 12:58 PM, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com>wrote:
