GENERATING A REPORT WHEN THE INTERNET CONNECTION GOES DOWN

Hey guys, Is there a program out there that can generate a report when the internet connection goes down in your company, showing details of when and for how long it was down.Would really appreciate any help on this.preferably one that can work in both a Unix system and a windows environment, or either. Kind regards.

Never heard of that, but you can get alerts if you graphing your internet usage, then you know timing and good ol' excel lets you input the timings. ./Ok3ch On Wed, May 9, 2012 at 12:28 PM, The sherminator <steve.kim41@gmail.com> wrote:

@ Dennis I think the link you have sent is for website uptime ??? I think he needs a tool that tells when internet is down - which i believe it will need to show between which times the internet was down... The tool you have suggested is good as it gives % of (some) popular website availability.. A network usage graphing tool would be useful (monitored at egress and ingress ISP link) and one would need to learn internet usage patterns for the office on a daily basis... Now unless on that day; people become soo busy that no one visits Facebook or Youtube to look at funny American Idol auditions --- In which case the usage graph will dip and confused for internet outage [?]

I believe nagios is can be customised to do this. Last I checked it could even send text messages to phones in case of down time. Then again its prolly just my belief. On Wed, May 9, 2012 at 3:20 PM, ndungu stephen <ndungustephen@gmail.com>wrote:

Nagios works wonders and is already in use by my ISP. Instead of deploying a local instance, why not engage your ISP, including graphing. On Wed, May 9, 2012 at 3:38 PM, Brian L <lusiola@gmail.com> wrote:
