@Brainac, I quote from the site " WordPress 3.0 "Thelonious" : Posted June 17, 2010 WordPress 3.0, the thirteenth major release of WordPress and the culmination of half a year of work by 218 contributors, is now available for download (or upgrade within your dashboard). Major new features in this release include a sexy new default theme called Twenty Ten. Theme developers have new APIs that allow them to easily implement custom backgrounds, headers, shortlinks, menus (no more file editing), post types, and taxonomies. (Twenty Ten theme shows all of that off.) Developers and network admins will appreciate the long-awaited merge of MU and WordPress, creating the new multi-site functionality which makes it possible to run one blog or ten million from the same installation. As a user, you will love the new lighter interface, the contextual help on every screen, the 1,217 bug fixes and feature enhancements, bulk updates so you can upgrade 15 plugins at once with a single click... It all there on the site. ;-) On Mon, Jul 26, 2010 at 9:58 AM, [ Brainiac ] <arebacollins@gmail.com> wrote:

@aki's NTServers must have been set back a month due to all the noisy vuvuzelas down south. :=) On Mon, Jul 26, 2010 at 10:27 AM, Rad! <conradakunga@gmail.com> wrote:

@Rad, hold on to your horses... :-) Did you know about the WP story or did anyone on this list share that info with others who maybe into WPress etc? I'm not into WP but thought the changes to it would be useful to others. Dude, due to the content issues brought up recently, I think now the time has come to start bringing tech news/developments back from internet and into the community list so that skunkworks is also a tech reference point in our tech community. That is excatly what am trying to doing here, at least for the past few days. General comment : Let us bring back the tech content into this community and hopefully some will become the basis of discussions or be informative to the community. However, if the list feels the info is un-necessary or too spammy, or if you feel the posting are too much info to process, then let me know as I respect your opinion. So will hold back for a while and await others to contribute too. Cheers. :-) On Mon, Jul 26, 2010 at 10:27 AM, Rad! <conradakunga@gmail.com> wrote:

relax @aki, We are used to new, fresh stories from you. You can do better thatn that, esp the wp story. and just to show how important content on this forum is (tech or otherwise). 1: I open my mail before waking up ;-). 2: I downloaded an E10 of big bang theory just to see a five second section on 3D glasses. 3: Thanks to skunkworks, i now know someone with encyclopedic knowledge out there. 4: and thanks to stuff from this same group i managed to get into trouble with law enforcement with one mf my experiments. Aki, I dont know about other techies but first thing I do when i get online is read tech stuff; cnn tech, google news tech, cnet, engadget and finally, one of the local dailies; judging by the low number of replies to your various news snippets u've been posting, it would be easy to make a logical deduction that most on this list have already read what u've posted from elsewhere.... So relax, take it easy :-) On Mon, Jul 26, 2010 at 10:56 AM, aki <aki275@googlemail.com> wrote:

@Brianiac, @Peter. am glad knowing the community are well versed with developments. That is great. We still have the content issue to improve on so I hope there will be general idea towards how we can do this. Mine was not to sit and wait for a solution but get things going. I was quite surprised at the iPhone posting issue on this list as it seems no one really picked up on the real matter. It was nice to see how the US public took a phone manufacturer to task and got a temp solution. The phone company who until today is playing the bad behaviour towards the public on a product it manufactured and supplied now knows the power of consumers. Something that we should learn in KE. When services or procuts are terrible, The public will speak... :-) Me thots and catch up later.

You do realize at some point Nokia had phones that exploded in your pocket, I'd rather have one that needed to be held "in a special way :)"... -- With Regards, Phares Kariuki | T: +254 734 810 802 | E: pkariuki@gmail.com | Twitter: kaboro | Skype: kariukiphares |

@Phares, agreed that all tech stuff have issues. The way Apple handled it landed them into more problems. Can you imagine if we collectively had the same will thinking as the US consumers to change the services in KE? I enjoyed the iPhone4 issue, it brought out many things companies, services can learn about consumer power... Phares, On another topic. What can we do to change content etc so that we start heading towards a skunkworks community to the benefits of getting more tech/non-tech members signing up while those who have been around generating more topics of interest ? Rgds. :-) On Mon, Jul 26, 2010 at 12:14 PM, Phares Kariuki <pkariuki@gmail.com> wrote:

@Phares, regarding content improvement , can this work? : 1) Each month we dedicate to various OSes and improvements etc 2) Each month we dedicate to various Phones, Mobile apps and happeneings. 3) Each month we dedicate to hardware like networking etc, developments and related items 4) Each month we dedicate to Web Server, Developments, Publishing and Websites and related items. How would it work = Say August we will talk/post various information on the 3 Operating Systems whether closed or open source. Since am not using Open Source of late, I could volunteer to do postings on MS developements or we can invite ( if we know some from MS ) to lead the thread. The same way, we can do for MAC and specialists and Linux/FreeBSD. During each month, other contributors are free to chip in on other various topics. Me thots.
