Question on server network setup

Hi peeps, Kindly asking if someone can give me the correct technical terms for the scenario I will describe below, so that I can do a more targeted research... I have a web application hosted on two servers. One server is out there in the cloud, and the other is in an organization's LAN. The one in the LAN obviously can only be accessed in the LAN. I want a setup where if you type the address of the application AND are within the LAN, you get redirected to the LAN one, but if you are outside the LAN, you proceed to the cloud one. My assumption is that this can be achieved at the network configuration level, but I could be wrong. So, what is the technical term for this kind of network level configuration?

Please read about DNS views - can achieve that very well ./Ok3ch On Tue, Aug 23, 2016 at 9:39 AM, Peter Karunyu via skunkworks < skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

Add an entry for the local server to your DNS server Sincerely, Jared Oyier On 23 August 2016 at 09:39, Peter Karunyu via skunkworks < skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

But in your case you only need an *A* record in your local DNS server pointing the url to the machine on the LAN. So anyone connected to the LAN only gets to access the LAN server. Nothing fancy is required. Just like Jared showed. On 23 August 2016 at 14:58, Peter Karunyu <pkarunyu@gmail.com> wrote:
