Internet slowdown [for me at least]

Hi all, Has anyone seen any slowdown today? I have three different ISP connections and I am seeing correlated slowdowns and speed ups for intl traffic. Anyone else or is this a fluke? Regards, Laban

I'm on Africa Online iburst, which is has been epileptic. But this happens at least twice a week, sometimes worse. 2009/4/8 Lmwangi <lmwangi@gmail.com>

Same noted here. Very annoying slowdowns, with sudden random bursts of speed in between.... ------------------------------ <MotoBaridi, incoherently mumbling to self since 1981> ----------------------------- On Wed, Apr 8, 2009 at 5:24 PM, Lmwangi <lmwangi@gmail.com> wrote:

Last one week ( including today's) observations - 2 ISPs First - Speeds have been fairly constant all week. Second - They seem to supply a "waveform" internet i.e. cyclic peaks and troughs. My guess is that when customer x is at peak at any given time, customer y is at rock bottom - and I mean 0 B/s one just stares at the screen for prolonged time then the darn thing comes back gushing but for a only short time. I thing this way they are able to sell 'peaks' and get away supplying their waveforms. Inhouse "bandwidth management" programs? perhaps... Am on Access Kenya, Had a black out of connectivity on Tuesday afternoon and this guys waited until i called them. then they say sorry we dint now that ur link had a problem, the other day they told me that it because of outrage................................. wait for fiber KDN will be the in thing!!! -- Regards, Robert.

We are also on Acess anbd their service has been wack for the last 2 weeks. Extremely slow speeds... I am thinking of moving to Onecomm ( Safaricom). Is there anyone using them as an ISP. Cheers, Kevin On 4/9/09, Robert Kuria <robbydeno@googlemail.com> wrote:

I am primarily on AccessKenya and the phenomena has been there the whole week! In fact at some point I thought the sun spots issue was now very persistent. When I called them, they told me they have been having "problems" (of course they don't divulge too much details). I also have a link with KDN which has had problems since the beginning of this month. And KDN has nonexistent Customer Service as some of you may already be knowing. At least KDN sentout e-mail telling clients about the problems on their gateways. So perhaps these ISPs affected use a common gateway? PS: Kevin - I'd advise you against considering OnCom. You may be better off with Access Kenya. -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ "Clothes make the man. Remember few years ago when almost every ISP had TKL as their gateway and the problems that were experiences? It is almost a repeat of the same currently. That is why for almost the whole of this week there has been never-ending downtimes, interruptions, and slow speeds. We've all been assured that things will be sorted out and we just have to wait patiently. @ Robert Kuria Fiber will not be the solution to all our problems. Actually the problems seen this week are linked to fibre and malice
