Database Administrator (DBA) Position

Good evening Skunks, A contact of mine is looking to fill a Database Administrator position. *Description * · Planning/Managing/Trouble Shooting/Tuning Oracle RDBMS · Identification and resolution of hardware, software, or database problems/malfunctions · Analyzing systems errors or anomalies, as well as specific database performance issues and/or error messages, in order to ensure maximum uptime and service quality · Working internally within the larger Technical Operations organization to test planned databases upgrades / modifications. · Formulating and implementing monitoring, policies, procedures and standards relating to database management. · Provide regular feedback / reporting on operations, issues · Establishing the needs of users and monitoring user access and security; · Monitoring performance and managing parameters to provide fast query responses to front-end users; · Mapping out the conceptual design for a planned database in outline; · Considering both back-end organisation of data and front-end accessibility for end-users; · Refining the logical design so that it can be translated into a specific data model; · Further refining the physical design to meet system storage requirements; *Qualifications* OCP Certification; BTech /BSc in engg *Skills * DBA , Oracle , SQL · 4 plus years of experience in IT / Telecom / Banking industry · Strong hands on experience in Oracle RDBMS/RAC/Dataguard · Good experience in Oracle RDBMS Trouble Shooting and Performance Tuning and DB indexing · Good understanding of Backup/Restore using RMAN, Veritas, Data Protector · Good experience in Unix shell scripting, PL/SQL · SQL Counters, Locking, DBCCS, DMVs commands , SSIS, SSAS, SSRS (+ Basic Administration) · High availability concepts mirroring, replication & log shipping Clustering. · Moving services from one node to another in windows cluster restore strategies and Restarting a service from a windows cluster with log shipping Backup &. Patching on a cluster. · Good understanding of backup technologies like BCV, DDup, D2D2T etc · Good understanding of SAN Storage, Clusters · Ability to work under pressure on odd hours/weekends · Data remains consistent across the database & is clearly defined; · Users access data concurrently, in a form that suits their needs; · Provision for data security and recovery control (all data is retrievable in an emergency).
