Afternoon Skunks, I have a bunch of windows xp computers on a windows 2003 server domain which I would like to block copying and playing audio and video files (*.mp3, *.wav, *.mov). Any ideas? regards, James

I'd be interested in knowing how you ultimately manage to achieve that, although I am wondering what problem you are trying to address by such a move. I shudder to imagine what is prompting such action. You could investigate Group Policies. Should be possible to do it from there On Fri, Nov 20, 2009 at 4:53 PM, Alvin Jason Ochieng <ajochola@gmail.com>wrote:

kweli Alvin...LOL! :-)))))) @James, as Rad mentioned try group policies. I'm not very clear on the AD part but within XP you have Local Security Settings>Software Restriction Policies within the Administrative tools. technet will have some helpful info. HTHs.

How about conforming to the K.I.S.S principle: Disable the soundcard on the PCs and then lock down the BIOS with a master password, such that no user can re-enable? Not an intelligent way but should work while you figure out something to do with Windows Polices. Although I think the Windows Policies would be more KISS than my method:) -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ "If you have nothing good to say about someone, just shut up!." -- Lucky Dube
