Many Cyber Cafes are now on Linux GUI - its been a quick matter of deciding: 1. do i want my computers seized ? - no 2. do i want to close shop and run everytime I smell Steve Balmer ? - no 3. do i want to pay 150-300 dollars license for each copy of windows for 30 machines ? - no 4. is linux GUI 'hard' for users to use ? - yes 5. can linux GUI do what clients want - eg browsing, word processing, spreadsheets, printing ? - yes 6. screw it then ! they will adapt to linux in time.
Bernard, It was one of the subtle reasons for starting, most of us then were working for ISP and Internet related industries and Opensource was central of what we were advocating for. Of course with time all technology have been accommodated. You should go through the archives and see how Windows related questions were treated. ;-) Kiania D.
