( The plain old "design a pay-roll or write a program to monitor staff timings" is OUT! ) Secondly, am no expert but also study on my owntime, so can only advice you to study the programming language while also looking at these in open source : osCommerce, Magento, Zen cart, Virtue Mart and CRE loaded.
