Motorola XOOM way better than the iPad / iPad 2

The motorola tablet in my opinion is a serious contender against the ipad. bigger display, faster processor(duo core) , crazy apps. see for yourself http://www.motorola.com/staticfiles/Consumers/US-EN/XOOM/index.html <http://www.motorola.com/staticfiles/Consumers/US-EN/XOOM/index.html>check out both vidz Kebaya *------------------------------------------------ *on a righteous path* ------------------------------------------------*

And did anyone question this? Seems like people are always out to spoil for war with Apple. Apple makes state of the art devices and they are in their own words tech trending devices, but doesn't mean that anyone cannot equal or even surpass that, so if you so happy with the Motorola Xoom, please go ahead an buy one, and if someone else is happy with the iPad, let them go ahead and buy one. Reminds me of when we were kids when you could argue with your best friend whose dad is the strongest in the village :-) ./Ok3ch On Wed, Feb 9, 2011 at 7:53 AM, Kebaya Mwamba <humphreykebaya@gmail.com> wrote:

We have to thank Apple for lading to mass adoption of this products before they are picked up by other manufacturers, even though we will never buy Apple. At least they brought in full touch slim smartphones and tablets first

@Kebaya from the title of your email, you make very hard for someone to misunderstand, that said, to add onto what @Oketch has just said, 'to each his own'. V On Wed, Feb 9, 2011 at 8:49 AM, Kebaya Mwamba <humphreykebaya@gmail.com>wrote:

A massive strength Apple have is that they ship product first. So early adopters always nearly end up with the Apple product, and they show their pals, who then go and get the same product etc. So now this Motorola Tablet is probably a better machine, but everyone who wants and can afford a pad/tablet probably already has one! So the question changes from is it better than the ipad to is it so far ahead of the ipad that ipad owners would ditch it for the Motorola? Thanks D -- Pamoja e:daudi.were@gmail.com skype: d.were

Seriously? Since when did flash become "*an essential component while surfing*"? Sometimes some of these reviews are written by people who should know better, but don't.

I may not be an Apple fan, but am fully behind Steve Jobs and his thoughts on Flash.

How old is the iPad? A couple of years with an iPad 2 coming soon. And you are comparing it with a device that has not been released? It is like saying today really sucks compared with what is coming tomorrow. Get a life.

Daudi - very true. Coz when I look at the 10.1 display, it is just slightly (to me, negligible) bigger than the iPad. The I look at the duo-core, my iPad is single core and it performs to my liking. The I look it 1080p HD, when thats for my TV. So it is true, it will be more appealing for someone who has always wanted to have an iPad, but for the early owners (like, moi) I really see no need of ditching my iPad to get the Xoom ./Ok3ch On Wed, Feb 9, 2011 at 9:38 AM, Daudi Were <daudi.were@gmail.com> wrote:

the ipad created a whole new class of products that had previously never gained foothold mainstream. . .as long as it (the Ipad) started the revolution, coming up with other tablets claiming to be better than it is just playing catch up and no real innovation. That it features dual core processors and a bigger display is irrelevant. What can it do that the ipad cant and the ipad 2 could never hope to do? Its just like the wave of iphone killers that did nothing to kill the iphone. Apple rocks. . . On Wed, Feb 9, 2011 at 10:48 AM, Okechukwu <okechukwu@gmail.com> wrote:

In my view the fact that all these tablets compare to the apple merchandise is proof enough that the iPad is tops. The other companies can chuck tablets with trio-core processors and a rocket engine but they didn't think of running with the tablet idea hard first and thats why they will forever be playing catchup On Fri, Mar 4, 2011 at 1:00 PM, Watson Kambo <wkwats@gmail.com> wrote:

Being the first to execute an idea does not mean that you are the best.

Fair enough, but which tablet has outstripped the iPad of its glory? and am not talking specs here because the most capable tablet with no apps to use the hardware is an expensive paperweight. Android and Windows 7 tablets will slowly and surely win market share but apple have a clear first mover advantage and churning ipad killer this and ipad killer that from the manufacturing floor will not really kill the ipad but make it the default metric to measure any other pad. Just like in a head-to-head race, you may have better acceleration, but I have the top speed... That said, this is about ecosystems...not just hardware shootouts. By moving with Xoom I'm assured of seamless continuity with my persona in the googlesphere...however as I watched Steve Jobs announcing the iPad2 I could not help but wonder how I have to have Apple TV to wirelessly stream video, how Flash is a goner, how FaceTime only works with Apple devices etc...in other words having overwhelmingly Apple-centric features. In a way having a more open development environment (as with Android) does have its advantages as you are assured that if you need seamless interaction with another hardware device you can simply create it with the free SDK or just download it pre-made.

My problem with techies is that we see everything as a competition. Why can't I have my iPad and you have your Xoom and we live along happily ever after. The fact that each product has its weaknesses will not stop a consumer who wants that product from getting it. Maybe, with the so-called lack of opennes is what attracts me to the iPad - so lets just live with each other. Websites will compare all these devices, and the comparison is not meant to discredit any device, but to offer the consumer a choice. ./Ok3ch On Fri, Mar 4, 2011 at 10:34 PM, Haggai Nyang <haggai.nyang@gmail.com> wrote:

To put this another way: Aside from creating awareness - which I believe is the real underlying purpose of all discussions here whether the participants realize it or not - your wish for us to look at this through the same eyes is a fundamentally Utopian view. It does not pertain only to techies - that is the whole purpose of comparisons - to give perspective to the uninitiated on where most bang for buck lies on several criteria. Whether its cars, hardware, software, real estate etc...comparisons are here to stay. At the end of the day it is what you feel most comfortable with that counts. I may persuade you to consider my point of view but that does not imply you have to adhere to it. But since you heard it nonetheless, you are already better informed... :)
