Has this service been launched yet? If so, is there anyone on the list who has used it? Is it true that this project is backed by Google? Timo.

It hasn't been launched yet though preparations are underway, training is going on as we speak,so it will be launched soon. On Thu, Feb 23, 2012 at 1:23 PM, Timothy Mutugi <timothymutugi@gmail.com>wrote:

ehhh...@ Derrick.... ...just for the record, I do not work for Google...I just posted here to see if anyone knows about this beba card...if this has created some publicity for beba, then well and good, but my post was definitely not a stunt... On a different note, yesterday I got a demo from one of the trainers and I think this is a very good initiative...the app on the smartphone is very very very easy to use and I am sure the conductors will find it easy to use...the NFC makes even easier. One person who will be happy is the matatu owner since there is no physical cash that can be stolen by the conductors. One person who will be kinda sad is the conductor, since there is no physical cash to steal. The one person who will be extremely sad is the traffic cop, since there is no physical cash to be bribed with. Timo. On 2/24/12, Derrick Wesonga <wesongaderrick@gmail.com> wrote:
coup de publicité

There are also upcoming Railway stations (already 3 in various stages of construction) and a planned transit system East of Nairobi. Wonder what payment system will be adopted? For those not aware of the *Modulus Operandi *,several ticket masters stand at a point as you enter the railway station, and you pay for your ticket before boarding the training. An inspector is supposed to go round the train checking for tickets, though it is usually packed to some points, with no space for movement (and little room for movement in case of an emergency)
