High chance your hard drive could be faulty too, sometimes Disk I/O problems can cause freezes. Graphic card? maybe not. If you sure its your graphic card then change your settings to triple buffering or overlap in the openGL panel but like I said i doubt its your graphic card seeing working on mail would not use hardware acceleration. I had not noticed anything strange about the fan but am going to pay more attention to temperatures and fan noise and see if I notice anything. Thank you. Note that using a Modem in some operating systems (I doubt Windows is affected) and placing the same near the processor (or even a ringing phone/ or one on a session) results in the Operating system instantly freezing. So check for this and use your modem on the opposite side of the processor/fan or use the USB extension cable.
I am not sure it is the graphics card, its just because it first happened in the middle of a game. I am going to change the settings as you have suggested and see how it goes. Any suggestions on how to tell whether it's the hard drive? My usual method of instinct did not detect any problem, neither did the diagnostics detect hard disk issues. Thank you.
