Most Secure Car Alarm and Security Strategy

Hi, Last week my car was vandalized and the alarm went off for only a few seconds before they managed to silence it, disable the immobilizer, start the car and drive it away .. all in in under 5 mins. Anyway, it was recovered abandoned later by the cops but the "security" components (alarm itself + immobilizer) and a big chunk of the dashboard and steering column components had been damaged. I had installed Auto Watch (make) but if it takes only takes 5 mins to crack it open then its not worth it.. After they fix the dashboard and steering column, I have to buy another system and have it installed.. What is the best car alarm system available in the market (Kenya) today or better what is the best security strategy to secure the car using technology ? Kindly share your views and comments Best Regards

So what did you end up doing with the alarm? Meanwhile, if they only deal with "alarms they know", means they know how to disable this stuff, right? On 28 January 2014 17:46, Peter Karunyu <pkarunyu@gmail.com> wrote:

@Kioko, I think I gave the alarm to a friend, no idea what he did with it. However, subject to correction, I think that after the first year, you can install whatever alarm (or not) you want, since when doing the annual valuation, all they (valuer) note down is "alarm system installed", they (insurer) do not require an alarm installation certificate. Hi, At Ifuate GPS tracking, we add extra layer of security by connecting our GPS tracking device with the alarm. If the alarm goes off, we will notify you immediately via email or through SMS or even cut out the starter or do all the above, as long as your GPS tracking device is connected to our servers. Even if they cut out all wiring off the vehicle, in which case I doubt how they will be able to drive off a few seconds are enough for the tracker to have hit our servers and the necessary warnings raised.

Guys of valuation only want to see whether or not it has an alarm; doesn't matter if it's cheap or expensive. A determined thief will get your car, no point fighting over it (assuming there is low sentimental value). I guess that's why one gets comprehensive insurance as opposed to the much cheaper third party only. On 4 February 2014 17:09, Peter Karunyu <pkarunyu@gmail.com> wrote:

Cheap alarms are a nuisance to society, the wind blows and all hell breaks loose.

@Joyce, You can view our prices here http://bit.ly/1ahfzX3 . For a demo you can visit our office. The location of our office is under the contact section on our website. A better demo will be one where we install it on your vehicle and show you how it works :) On Tue, Feb 4, 2014 at 5:55 PM, Dennis Kioko <dmbuvi@gmail.com> wrote:

Dennis, that's the alarm's sensitivity settings, and that can be adjusted. I have reservations regarding insurance companies' insistence that an alarm be installed, yet they do not check the quality of the systems. My car came with a full anti-theft system from the manufacturer, but my insurance required me to install another locally even after I demonstrated its features. Afterwards I had the local alarm disconnected from the car's systems but I couldn't get the original one working like before. The features I lost: I could use the original one to roll up/down windows, open/close sunroof remotely before. And it would close all open windows/sunroof 5 seconds after being armed. Also, before, if one tried to open a door with the system armed, it would give an audible beep (like from a watch) on the first two attempts, then sound the alarm for subsequent attempts - this comes in handy when one's absent-minded. This feature now works only for the driver's door. The local dealer would charge and arm and leg just to try and get it working as before, with no guarantees. To date I wish I'd just gone to River Road and printed a certificate of installation. Regards, Steve On Tue, Feb 4, 2014 at 5:55 PM, Dennis Kioko <dmbuvi@gmail.com> wrote:

When I take my car for valuation, the insurance guys and valuation firm ask me to state, by filling a form, what is my car alarm. The, nevertheless bother to check whether that's what I have installed in real sense. My car has a key alarm, which came with the vehicle from the manufacturer's and the locally assembled one.
Regards, Steve

To revive this thread, anyone who knows where I can get someone credible to install a Sigma S30 alarm? Specifically, someone who has done it before successfully. On Thu, Feb 6, 2014 at 2:45 PM, Solomon Mbũrũ Kamau <solo.mburu@gmail.com>wrote:
