Skunks, Since from the start of this year safcom have changed several of their operation procedures. here are the few I have noticed:- 1. For corporates having a clean record, they were allowed to receive products on delivery of cheques. Now you must wait for at least four working days(Sometimes six) for the cheque to mature and be confirmed by their finance department. 2. Bonga points- They increased the charges for redeeming the bonga points. 3. Black berry (BES/BIS) services- To activate a BIS service was free. Currently you must have a BES service to use BIS service. BES costs Kshs. 1499 every month. 4. Mpesa charges- The PRICE RATES ..... 5.

There is nothing wrong with companies changing their operating procedures. I also get irritates by people who complain about every tiny price increase while at the same time want better and greater service. I'd rather pay slightly more and get good quality service, and you will one day come to conclude that cheap is not good. Anyway, I believe the Bonga point loyalty program is expensive, and with inflation, it makes sense to change the threshold of points you need to redeem goods and services. It can't remain constant. Cost of phones from is going up, and even the retail prices are heavily subsidised by the carrier.

BIS service activation is still free and you do not need BES. Just dial *210# and choose the option you want. Regards. Philip, I did not touch on hardware because that is dictated by market forces and they cannot control that. I am talking of services unique to safcom(Monopoly). I have noticed that for over two months only the Ideos is the only quality(radio, maybe Internet enabled and java enabled ) phone for redeeming. Secondly, This is a form of appreciation to safcom. They offered a service which i appreciate enough to write this message.

Great Gatekeeper, The money for rolling out 4G has to come from somewhere. It saddens me that some telcos instead of being innovating with massive assets like National Fiber Option Network, they are rushing back tot the tax payer for funding, after costing almost KES 20 B in privatization preparations and massive loss of jobs.
