Hi, Anyone who has experience with running a data heavy app on a wireless network? Tips for enhancing network access apart from laying a wired network? -- Regards http://www.software.co.ke ------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Peter,
Wireless networks (read Wi-Fi) were never designed to deliver high throughput for your network needs. For instance a Wi-Fi equipment running 802.11g and sustaining a 54Mbps connection will have roughly a throughput of about ~24Mbps. However, high end network equipment vendors e.g Cisco, Motorolla etc have solutions that employ Load balancing, and QoS( e.g WMM) techniques to make the wireless networks more responsive to applications. Coupled with good design and implementation this can deliver average performance for most LAN environments at quite significant cost i must add. There is a lot to be considered when going the Wi-Fi way. Personally i am not a big fan of Wireless LANs but i can assist. I have not changed my number ;) R D

also depends on how much data you want to move and whether you're using wifi or licensed frequency, there are solutions in the licensed range that will give you up to STM-4 (600MBps) Brian On Wed, Jan 20, 2010 at 7:55 AM, Denis G. Wahome <dwahome@gmail.com> wrote:
