Hi. Am looking for a device that can power cycle servers, routers etc, remotely. Something similar to this one iboot-remote-reboot<http://dataprobe.com/iboot-remote-reboot.php>at an affordable price. -- Regards, Job Njogu Muriuki, Phone: (+254) - 772333075 | 736333075 Skype: heviejob | Yahoo: heviejob Address: 42665 00100 Nrb

SSH is only helpful when you want to reboot a server, router or network device that is reachable. The point is to power cycle a device that has locked up or server that is non responsive by remotely flipping on and off the AC power source either via webbrwoser (IP based) or even via a phone call or sms. -- Regards, Job Njogu Muriuki, Phone: (+254) - 772333075 | 736333075 Skype: heviejob | Yahoo: heviejob Address: 42665 00100 Nrb

Lookup Dell Management Console - You will have to configure one server with it, and you can do whatever you want to any server it is configured to work with. Works excellent on Dell hardware, but can manage any hardware. Might cost you though. ./Ok3ch On Mon, Feb 14, 2011 at 10:06 AM, Job Muriuki <muriukin@gmail.com> wrote:

...and btw, the Dell Management Console does much more that just reboot a server. If your servers are UNIX or UNIX-like, you will aprreciate since you may never need to reboot a server for some 1000's of days ./Ok3ch On Mon, Feb 14, 2011 at 11:58 AM, Steve Muchai <smuchai@gmail.com> wrote:

Thanks for the ideas but non meets my need. I want one that will revive if the server is locked up and no IP network communication is possible by power cycling it. Same as turning off and back on its power switch(hard reboot). On Feb 14, 2011 12:01 PM, "Okechukwu" <okechukwu@gmail.com> wrote:

Well, even the iBoot can be inaccessible when the net is down. However a homegrown solution would be something centered around SMS-based control which in turn controls relays as switches to your various devices. I think there were some university chaps who showcased something like this some time back. A bit of work required, but that is totally off-internet :)

Check out Pulizzi, not sure but I think they have something along the lines of what your looking for. BR, S -- This message represents the official view of the voices in my head.
